This is for you, Grandma Great!

We were out on the patio boat on Whiskeytown Lake last weekend & we saw a bear. It was very exciting. My Dad saw him as soon as we pulled into the cove & told us about it & we all started squealing so it lumbered up the hill & disappeared...for a little while.

It kept coming down to the water & watching us & then going back up into the trees, again & again. Jett & I were swimming in the lake when Jett said, "Oh look, Mommy, there's the bear." And sure enough, there he was, coming back down to the water.

We were anchored about 25 yards from shore in the middle of a cove so we were never very close to him but we would see him, he'd disappear & then we'd hear branches creaking in the trees & he'd be there again. He was about a year old, or so, & we were told that by the time they are that old they're no longer with their mothers so we were comforted by that.

I say this post is for Grandma Great because she was visiting us last month & when she was on the patio boat anchored in a cove she kept her eyes open for bears the entire time. We called her & told her that we just saw a bear while we were still in the cove & she told us "well get the hell out of there!"

We love you so much, Grandma Great, & here are some photos of the bear. We're glad you can enjoy them here rather than when you were out on the lake!
