Boatin' with the Boys

The Seamans family joined us on the patio boat for the first of what will be many trips. It was so much fun & all the boys seemed to really enjoy it.

And last week, I'm very proud to say, Robyn & I took the boat out ourselves with Jett, Andrew & Nathan. I think we're pretty cool Moms to be able to do that. Mike thought so, too! I have hardly ever driven a boat so Robyn was great at teaching me & she pulled it out & parked it back at the dock like a pro! It's much easier to learn from her than from my Dad or my husband :)

Our New Patio Boat

We bought a new used patio boat with my family this winter & are really enjoying it this spring. We have it docked out at Whiskeytown Lake on Brandy Creek & we use it almost every week. We know we're going to have an amazing summer with it & look forward to taking my Grandma & Aunt Debbie & Uncle Russ out on it when they visit from Kansas in June.

Mike's Birthday

Jett made Mike a cake for his birthday in February ~ with a little bit of help from my Mom. He understood that Mike was 44 so he put four candles on each side. It was beautiful & delicious.

He's getting really good at cooking & always helps me in the kitchen. He's great at cracking eggs. It will make us happy if he grows up to be a good chef ~ personally or professionally. Cooking is something Mike & I, as well as my Dad, all enjoy.

Palm Springs

Mike & my Dad had business in Ontario so we were all able to go to Palm Springs for the 3-day weekend. Mike drove down because he had lots of material to take for the Chip Seal meeting & Jett & I drove to Sacramento early Friday morning & took an 11am flight. Mike picked us up at the airport in Ontario, we drove to Palm Springs & got there by 3pm. My Mom & Dad drove to Sacramento as soon as my Mom got out of school, flew to Ontario then drove to Palm Springs & got there by 10pm.

Before we checked into the hotel Mike & took Jett to the Palm Springs tram. Mike had never done it before & Jett didn't really remember it from the last time we were there so it was a really fun time. It wasn't nearly as cold as we expected it to be at the top but there was still a lot of snow.

My Dad got us both suites at the Hilton in downtown Palm Springs. What an amazing location & a truly fun hotel.

My Mom & I took Jett to the Living Desert Zoo on Saturday & we absolutely loved it. There was a miniature train display that was unbelievable. We had the hardest time getting Jett to even go look at the animals. We did miss feeding the Giraffes because of the trains but we'll do it next time.

Mike & my Dad played a great golf course on Saturday & were back early evening. My Mom & I got back to the hotel around 2pm & my Mom watched Jett while I had a manicure & pedicure. Then, my parents took Jett for the night so Mike & I could have a date & we went to LG's Steakhouse. Have I ever mentioned how amazing my parents are? Well, they are. They kept Jett until we met the next morning for breakfast.

After breakfast we all went to the Children's Discovery Museum. Jett loved that, too. The displays were much more age appropriate for Jett at 3-4 years old than the SF Exploratorium. He got to paint a real VW Bug. It was really an amazing place!

After the museum my parents went to a golf course where my Dad played & my Mom rode along. Mike, Jett & I went for a drive & then back to the hotel for Jett's "nap." Mike went & hiked a trail that went up & around Bob Hope's house. I forgot to give him the camera but he did take several great pictures on his phone.

When my parents got back we joined them for Champagne & red wine before they went out to dinner. Jett, Mike & I had room service, which Jett loves, & we had a fun time watching all the people come & go in the parking lot from our balcony.

After breakfast the next morning my Dad took my Mom to the Ontario airport before he played golf & Mike took Jett & I after we drove around & looked at Open Houses in Palm Springs. Mike even got us checked in & stayed with us until we went through security. What a sweetie. My Mom, Jett & I flew back to Sacramento together & then drove back to Redding. We stopped by Mike's parents' house in Cottonwood & picked up Bogey on the way.

My Dad flew home on Thursday & drove back in his car from Sacramento & Mike drove all the way back to Redding from Ontario. My Dad only beat Mike home by less than two hours.

I love putting all the details of our trips on the blog because it helps me remember how much fun we all had & all the coordination it took to get us all down there & all home. It's just the way we travel & the way we live, working & playing together. It's awesome & I couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks Mom & Dad, it's another trip we'll never forget!

Twas a Very Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We all spent Christmas Eve with my Mom & Dad & then Christmas Day with Mike's Mom & Dad. My parents & Brett & Payton joined Mike's family for a glass of wine before dinner & before Payton's nap.

We gave my parents photo books from Jett & Payton & Mike's parents one from Jett. The photo books were the favorite gifts & brought a few tears from everyone. Jett loves to look at his on my parent's living room coffee table. He thinks Payton's is ok, too. I put a lot of time & thought into making them & I'm glad to know they were appreciated.

In fact, my Mom says that she wants them every year now. Not a problem. They're fun to make & it is so hard to think of gifts from the kids. Thanks for the idea, Robyn!

Snowflakes

We took Jett & Payton to the snow last week. I know it was the first time Payton had ever played in the snow & I think it may have been the first time she ever even saw it. Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa & all the gear they had for the kids, we got cold & wet long before they did!

Our Home

San Francisco Christmas Lights

I had meetings in San Francisco on Tuesday & Wednesday, Mike had a meeting in Modesto on Thursday, so we were able to meet at the Grand Hyatt on Union Square to swap the munchkin & show him the City at Christmas.

We looked at all the Christmas Lights, rode the Cable Car & best of all, watched the Zamboni sweep the ice rink at Union Square. It was a pretty special trip. Jett loved it!
